FEATURED STUDENT POET!!!! Jasmine Norris, a graduating senior (Spring '02! Congratulations!) in the Department of English, presents the following poem as a momento of her departure:
Let Me Paint a Picture, My Love
Let me paint a picture, my love.
Our love can be described as the joy
a mother has when she is reunited
finally with her run-away child.
If you let me paint a picture, my love,
it would be a lonely widow watching
the sunset with the sweet memories
of her late husband.
Our love can be described
as a deep passion that burns inside
of a wife who knows that her husband's
ship is coming in from the war.
Our love is so strong that it is as deep
and everlasting as a postcard of a sunset
on the lake.
Please let me paint a picture, my love.
If you do, you will see children running
freely on a beach, just happy to be
able to run, or you would see the joy
on a husband's face when the doctor
tells him his wife is going to live.
I would paint a thousand pictures
because like the saying, A picture's
worth a thousand words.
But it would take a million pictures
to let you know how much I love you.
So, please, my love, let me paint a picture.
